What is a Veterinary Specialist?
A board certified veterinary specialist is a veterinarian with advanced training
in a specific discipline within veterinarian medicine. His or her knowledge
and skills in this area have been evaluated and recognized by a specialty organization
accredited by the American Veterinary Association (AVMA). Specialists are recognized
as Diplomates of their specialty college.
Specialization veterinary medicine allows pets access to advanced care and treatment
similar to those available in human medicine.
Referring Veterinarian
The best care of your pet is provided by mutual communication between your veterinarian
and the specialist. Medical history, current therapies and any other information helpful
is requested. A complete report will be sent to your veterinarian regarding your visit
with us. Remember, the act of referring exemplifies your veterinarian's concern for your
pet's well-being and overall health.

Services: The practice of veterinary dermatology encompasses the diagnosis
and treatment of skin and ear diseases including environmental allergies, food
allergies, bacterial infections, yeast infections, autoimmune disorders, hair loss,
and skin cancer. We offer intradermal allergy testing (the gold standard of allergy
testing in pets), videotoscopy, and immunomodulatory therapy.

Ophthalmology
Services: The Animal Eye Clinic is equipped to provide a full range of veterinary
ophthalmic diagnostics, theraputics and surgical services including cataract extraction
by phaco-emulsfication with intraocular lens (IOL) replacement, reconstructive eyelid
surgery, cornea repair, glaucoma procedures, gonioscopy, ocular ultrasonography,
electroretinography, cryosurgery, laser surgery intraocular prosthesis. Our Board
Certified ophthalmolgists offer consultation and surgical services in disease of the
eye affecting small animals, large animals, zoological and wildlife species. They are
also available in examine purebred dogs for inherited ocular diseases (CERF's)
including slit lamp biomicroscopy, direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy and special techinques
as required.
